Local schools have completed their Spelling Bees and Science Fairs; dictionaries are cracked and the run on office supply stores for display boards has passed; winners from school competitions are now preparing for county-wide competitions.
On March 2nd, students in 4-6th and 7-9th grades will gather at UCSC for the county Spelling Bee. Winners at each grade level will progress to regional and state competitions.
March 2, 12-2 p.m. UCSC Classroom Units 1 & 2.
At the Civic Auditorium on March 7 & 8 winners from schools throughout the county in grades 4-12 will compete in a variety of categories for top honors. County winners, honored at a ceremony on March 17th may go on to the California State Science Fair and the International Science and Engineering Fair.
