There’s nothing quite like the first day of school. Getting to know new teachers, catching up with old friends, fresh notebooks and a season full of promise. It’s a new year for The Eddy, too. As we step into our second year of publication, we look forward to sharing more news about great things happening in our schools and the good work of the Santa Cruz Education Foundation.
To continue this good work, we need your help.
Through fund raising and advocacy over the previous five years, the Education Foundation has delivered support for class size reduction, Life Lab science, Outdoor Science School, enrichment, arts programs, safety training and mentoring for at-risk students. Our community outreach effort includes The Eddy, and the River Arts Festival, held at San Lorenzo Park in May.
In this new school year, the Education Foundation hopes to bring fresh healthy food to our elementary schools; provide targeted math support for students and their parents, expand enrichment opportunities; and reinforce the good work of the AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination) program. In addition to continued support of Life Lab science, Outdoor Science School, Pre-K and arts programs, the Education Foundation will also support the work of the district’s Green Schools, Academic Excellence and Wellness committees.
With your support, we can continue to deliver on our commitment to improve the classroom experience for all 7,000 elementary, middle and high school students in Santa Cruz City Schools. It takes all of us to create great schools for our great kids. So we hope as friends and supporters of public schools, you’ll consider a donation to the Santa Cruz Education Foundation.
Donations of any size are welcome – whether you can give just a little or give generously, your support goes directly to our students today and paves the path of excellence for students to come.
On behalf of our students, thank you for your support of excellence in education.
President, Santa Cruz Education Foundation
