On March 18, Gault Elementary School held an all day math festival for every student from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Through the generous support of the Gault Parent/Teacher Alliance, the school hosted the California Mathematics Council. CMC provided the materials and instructions for mind-engaging math activities for all classes. Students explored math through fun games that ranged from how many times they could hop on one foot in one minute to grouping fact families in Venn diagrams. The activities allow students to both demonstrate basic skills and extend their conceptual grasp through higher order thinking. The hands-on approach engages students in Algebra, Geometry and Number activities through puzzles, group projects and games. The best feature of the day? A good time had by all!
