Santa Cruz City Schools saves $110,000.00 per year by relocating Transportation and Maintenance and Operations Services
Santa Cruz City Schools is in the process of relocating its Maintenance and Operations office from rented space on Mission Street to district owned property at 536 Palm Street. Transportation operations are being relocated from Mission Street to the lower area of the Harbor High School campus. These department relocations will save the district approximately $110,000.00 per year.
The transition was part of a fiscal solvency plan to meet state revenue cuts of over $5 million for the 2010-11 school year. The district successfully balanced its budget and did so by placing priority on cuts away from the classroom thereby minimizing impact on students.
According to district sources, the relocation process has been made possible with the cooperation of the City and County of Santa Cruz, neighbors and community members.
