The Santa Cruz County Youth Symphony is Santa Cruz County’s premier youth orchestra.  If you play an instrument and want the experience of playing classical music with other talented student musicians in the County, the Youth Symphony is for you.  Student must be currently studying a musical instrument, have played for several years, or have exceptional ability, and must pass a short audition.  The Symphony is looking for students who play any one of the following instruments: violin, viola, cello, bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, french horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, percussion.

The applicant should be prepared to play any major scale with up to four sharps or four flats, and to bring a prepared piece or etude no longer than three minutes in length, that demonstrates his/her ability.  Sight reading will also be required.  Candidates must be 20 years old or younger, and be prepared to make a sincere commitment to full rehearsal and concert program participation as well as private study and practice. Scholarships are available.

Auditions will be November 21st, 2010 and January 10, 2011 and are scheduled upon request.
