It’s the season for Winter performances, a chance to celebrate our schools’ performing arts programs. Even if you do not have a student performing, these events are a wonderful way to take in the many talents of our students and their dedicated instructors.  For parents of younger children, it’s a great way to introduce them to music and to build aspirations – after all, they’ll be middle and high school students before you know it!  Here’s a handy guide to upcoming Winter Concerts at district schools:

Saturday, December 4
Downtown Holiday Parade – The Cardinal Regiment Marching Band and Color Guard will continue its tradition of leading the parade downtown Santa Cruz.
Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz, 10 am

Sunday, December 5
Kuumbwa Jazz Concert, 1:00-3:30PM
The Santa Cruz High Jazz Band will perform; the Cabrillo “5 o’clock” Band and the Cabrillo Jazz Ensemble will be guests.
Tickets $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for students

Tuesday, December 7
Mission Hill & Santa Cruz High School Winter Choral Concert
Santa Cruz High Auditorium, 7 pm. Admission is $5 at the door
The concert will feature performances from Mission Hill Blue and Gold Choruses, Santa Cruz High School Concert Choir, and Santa Cruz High Acapella.

Wednesday, December 15
Mission Hill & Santa Cruz High Winter Concert, 7 pm, Santa Cruz High School Theater
The Santa Cruz High Concert Band will be joined by the Mission Hill Middle School Blue Band, Gold Band and Orchestra. This is a free concert, however donations will be gladly accepted.

Thursday, January 13
Harbor High Music Winter Concert,  7:30 in the Little Theater
Featuring the Band, Jazz Choir, Chamber Orchestra and Jazz Band. Admission is $4. at the door. 12 and under will be admitted for free.
