The Young Performers Showcase features a variety of talented local performing artists, ages 13-28 performing in a benefit for Santa Cruz City Schools music programs.

This year’s line-up includes singer/songwriter Bridget Johnson; the award-winning Soquel High Jazz Chorus;  Polynesian dancers Te Hau Nui; Jackie Rocks Band; Bebop Jazz Quartet; bluegrass band Them Boys, and featured guest our own Grammy Award nominee, Tammi Brown. The Santa Cruz High School Drumline will rouse spirits and open the show with a bang. Local comedian Sven Davis will again entertain as Master of Ceremonies.

This fundraiser was developed by Cruzville Productions, a group of Santa Cruz business professionals, to supplement the lack of adequate funding for music programs in state and local schools. The Santa Cruz Education Foundation makes the event possible.

Support for school-day and after school programs is a growing emphasis within the Santa Cruz Education Foundation. Studies confirm that involvement with music and performance in school can have a profound impact on academic performance, self-esteem, concentration, self-expression and overall connectedness to school. Arts not only enrich our lives, but improve performance in all areas.
