This Candidate’s forum is co-sponsored by the United Way of Santa Cruz County, First 5 of Santa Cruz County, Second Harvest Food Bank, the Central Coast School Food Alliance, Santa Cruz County WIC, the Childcare Planning Council and other key stakeholders in our community who are concerned with children’s health and nutrition.

The Go For Health collaborative is hosting this Supervisorial Candidates Forum.  Forum attendees will have an opportunity to hear from candidates running for the three open Santa Cruz County Supervisor seats on their thoughts for reducing childhood obesity and related issues.  Go for Health has invited candidates running in the 1st , 2nd and 5th County Supervisor Districts to participate in a panel to discuss how they might increase access to healthy foods, reduce hunger and support programs that impact our children’s health and nutrition, should they be elected/reelected to the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors. Eight out of ten candidates have RSVPed and are planning to participate in this panel discussion. Forum moderator and Master of Ceremonies will be Danny Keith of KDON and Grind Out Hunger, who will be asking 5 pre-approved questions from event co-sponsors, before opening the panel up for audience questions.

Other information:

Parents, teachers, child health and nutrition experts, and members of the community who are interested in child health and nutrition issues are encouraged to attend.

The forum will also be filmed by Community Television.

This event will take the place of Go For Health’s regularly scheduled April collaborative meeting.
