Food What?! youth leaders to host a Strawberry Bonanza education event

Join the Food What?! youth Crew for a Strawberry Bonanza on Wednesday, June 6 between 3 and 5pm at the Downtown Santa Cruz Farmers’ Market. The Bonanza is the first event in a summer/fall series called the Foodshed Project, a program of the Santa Cruz Community Farmers’ Markets, that features monthly educational events at the downtown market.

June 6 is our day to celebrate the strawberry! Learn about its history and importance in the Santa Cruz region, cooking tips and tricks, get crafty, strawberry face painting, music and eat so many that strawberry juice dribbles down your chin while you smile. Activities include the Hay Bale Forum, a stage area with speakers and activities, featuring Swanton Berry Farm, a mini class and tasting with Companion Bakeshop and “Food, What?!”, and a family friendly strawberry hunt led by “Food, What?!” leaders. Enjoy music special prices on strawberries, and the bustle of the market.
