Proposition 30 is the only measure on the November 6 ballot that will prevent trigger cuts to K-12 and higher education, prevent a $2400 tuition hike for UC students and their families this year and enable the state to invest more in preparing students for jobs and the future. Prop 30 also protects public safety services, Cal Fire and disability services.
Passage of Proposition 30 will prevent over $6 Billion in automatic “trigger” cuts from becoming effective in January 2013. Locally, it could mean as much as another $3-4 million in cuts to Santa Cruz City Schools.
Governor Brown is traveling the state staging rallies with educators and students most impacted by recent and pending budget cuts.
