Gault Elementary School Life Lab garden gets summer time TLC

Crew members from the Food What?! program provided some cheerful assistance with pruning, weeding and other heavy lifting this summer. Working with Gault Life Lab coordinator Susan Dahlgren, the crew helped spruce up the garden classroom for the soon-to-return Kindergarten through 5th graders.

In addition to their summer work in our school gardens, in the Fall and Spring the Food What?! crew also runs a weekly farmers market at Gault Elementary selling produce grown on their farm located at the Life Lab garden at UCSC.

Food What?! is an Ed Foundation supported youth empowerment and food justice program using food, through sustainable agriculture and health, as the vehicle for growing strong, healthy, and inspired teens. Many Food What participants are former Gault Elementary students.
