Green Apple Day of Service, a nation wide event, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Bay View Elementary School.  Green Apple Day gives parents, teachers, students, companies and local organizations the opportunity to transform all schools into healthy, safe and productive learning environments through local service projects.

Bay View Elementary will be participating in Green Apple Day this year with three main projects.  In an effort to conserve water, we will be removing existing shrubs, trees, and lawn near the front entrance to Bay View, allowing us to cap the existing irrigation system and replacing the area with mulch and drought tolerant plants.  In addition to this project focused on water conservation and beautification, volunteers will prepare bins that will be used in our Terracyle up-cycling program, as well as participate in a project to remove teacher’s names from junk mailing lists.

We welcome community support and volunteers!  Join us on Saturday from 9am-3pm at the Bay View campus, no registration is required.  For more information, please contact Jodi Mulder at cjbackpacker@yahoo.com or 847-644-7803.
