safe125Learn about programs and facilities that already exist and share your ideas on how to make getting to school safer.

• Improve safe school access for all children

• Suggest routes for walking and biking to school

• Suggest ways to encourage more children to walk, bike, bus or carpool

• Volunteer for walking and bike audits at your school

Ecology Action and the City of Santa Cruz Public Works are engaged in a 2-year project to create a Complete Streets Plan for Santa Cruz City Schools, working at 10 school sites to compile data on current conditions and create visioning plans for relieving barriers to walking, biking and busing.

These public meetings are opportunities to share ideas and observations.  Large format maps for each school site will be available for hands-on time to contribute ideas and observations.  Volunteers will be sought to participate in walking and biking audits at all the schools scheduled in November and January.
