FosterEd is a project aimed at improving the educational outcomes of children in foster care. The project looks for adults interested in making a difference in the Santa Cruz community by serving as Educational Support Volunteers. Educational Support Volunteers provide individual coaching and mentoring to parents or key adults involved in the lives of children in foster care. Mentoring topics include: beliefs about education, monitoring learning, communication with school, appropriate schools and classes, Special Education, attendance, and more. Educational Support Volunteers will help these adults build their capacity to better support their child’s success in school.
